Kazuya is the main protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei.
In his seemingly calm eras of the 1990s, his world itself took a catastrophic turn after he received an e-mail hosting a "Devil Summoning Program". Forced to fight and survive in a world where the demons and gods of ancient times now returned to clash over the rule of all of creation, Kazuya made a choice himself to decide the victors, losers, and outcome, of the grand theological struggle over the ruins of Tokyo.
In the events of Dissidia, he, and his friends, Yoshio, and Waruo, were brought to the world without knowledge or warning.
Soon in their travels, did they meet Cid of the Lufaine. Upon their introduction, it was said that all three of them are said to be bestowed with a great essence, known as the Equilibrium. Through the powers of the Equilibrium, it is said that those in possession of it could forge a world in the light of their ideals and beliefs. In addition, the three are required to choose a side in the world they now existed in, of harmony, under the goddess Cosmos, or of discord, under the god Chaos.
With the Demons of their world having poured into the world of Dissidia, and the factions of the Messians, and the Cult of Gaia following after, the three engaged in the great battles ahead.
But in time, the three eventually separated from each other.
Kazuya, alone, walks in an enigmatic path, but in the light of Cosmos.
In battle, Kazuya is an Astute Conjurer, able to summon demons to provide distractions and softening blows before leading into more devastating maneuvers.
In game, he requires demons to be summoned fully before being able to perform their attack. Demons summoned to his command are always on the field, but can be vanquished themselves, leading Kazuya to have to resummon them again. Certain demons themselves also have different ways of movement and behaviors, requiring them to be used in different ways and even creative usage.
Because of his play style, he has many great projectile attacks, feints and counter able startups, and area of effect attacks, but attacks from himself are straightforward, yet leave something more to be desired. He is also highly open during summoning sequences, requiring players to expand upon their approaches and strategies.
